Light Projections – BA (Hons)

More research lead me to some images that I had taken whilst doing my Bachelors Degree for a project entitled “Body & Identity”. For this project we had to use a projector either to create shapes with shadows or we could use images which would then be projected onto a subject (in this case a person).

The results that we achieved were very interesting and it was fascinating to see how a projected image on a subject could really change the look and mood of the final outcome. The students deliberately wore light clothing so that the projections would be easy to detect. These images are similar to those of Diana Thater, in the sense that images have been projected, changing the whole mood of the space that they have been projected into.

I like the idea that a space/environment can be changed so dramatically, simply by just using light. This is something that is worth experimenting with.
